After bifurcation of State, 17 Horticulture Farms are allocated in the Telangana State, with sole objective of producing superior quality plant material in fruits species like Mango, Guava, Pomegranate & Coconut for distribution to farmers under different Government sponsored schemes.

All the farms are brought under SOCIETY FOR HORTICULTURE NURSERIES (SHN), registered on 20th June 2015.

The Horticulture farms were monitored by the SOCIETY FOR HORTICULTURE NURSERIES (SHN) which was registered with APC & Prl. Secy. to Govt. as its Chairman and Commissioner of Horticulture as Convenor.

Efforts are being made to convert these Horticulture Farms into Farmers Training Schools and establishment of New Pedigree blocks with drought prone, hardy species for propagation and supply of plant material throughout the State.
Objectives

To step up the process of production of pedigreed plant material in the horticulture departmental nurseries.

To strengthen the existing departmental nurseries by developing infrastructure and also to acquire new nurseries wherever necessary.

To incorporate Horticulture Farms as per Nursery Act, 2010 and Accreditation with National Horticulture Board (NHB)

The Horticulture Farms are to be developed self sufficient to meet demands of plant material in the state and capable of export to other state.

To execute plans and programmes for the benefit of fruit, vegetable and ornamental gardeners in the State of Telangana.

To undertake adoptive trials, demonstrations etc. in the departmental nurseries in order to disseminate technology from Universities and Research Stations.

To receive/ accept funds from Governmental departments/agencies, cooperatives, societies, financial institutions and public for furtherance of above objectives.

To develop Government Gardens whenever the Government entrusts the job by providing funds.

To train personnel in budding / grafting and other propagation technology.

To purchase, to take on lease, accept as gift construct or otherwise acquire any loan or property suitable, necessary which are useful for the society.

To employ directly or indirectly / sanction grants / funds to other institutions / persons to further the programmes to be undertaken / supported by the society.

To invest the funds entrusted to the Society upon which security or in any such manner as may, from time to time be determined by the executive committee.

To furnish the periodical review of the progress made.
