Introduction

Sericulture is an Agro-industry, Mulberry cultivation, Silkworm rearing are agriculture in nature where as silk reeling, silk twisting and weaving activities are industrial in nature.

China stands in First position in Global Silk Production with 68600 MTs (2019-20)

India stands at 2nd place with 36152 MTs while Uzbekistan with 2037 MTS in 3rd place and Vietnam 795 MTs and Thailand with 700 MTs, Vietnam with 520 MTs. The total demand of silk is 65000 MTs in India.

Karnataka produces 11, 143 MTs of raw-silk (1st place in the country, 2019-20) followed by Andhra Pradesh with 7,962 MTs followed by Tamilnadu with 2,154 MTs, followed by Telangana with 297 MTs there is a gap of nearly 33000 MTs of Raw-silk.

State : Beneficiary contribution for SCSP & TSP covering the above

Under NSP
Matching State Share (MSS) for the Central Sector Schemes 25% of
the unit cost basing on the sharing pattern 50:25:25 Central : State
: Beneficiary contribution for General Category and sharing pattern
for SCSP & TSP 65:25:10 Central : State : Beneficiary contribution
covering the above CSS components.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) :
Certain schemes are being sanctioned under RKVY with sharing pattern

Convergence with MG-NREGS:
Telangana is the first state to cover the Tasar silkworm rearing
under convergence with MG NREGS, there by tasar farmer will get 145
mandays covering (2) beneficiaries per family i.e., Rs.62,000/-
additional income besides income from regular tasar crop.

For Mulberry bush plantation Rs.1.25 lakhs of which 1st year Rs. 53,000/- & year 2nd & 3rd year Rs.36,000/- each is provided under MGNREGS. This benefit is allowed for (2) acres.

For Silkworm Rearing Shed construction Rs.1.03 lakhs is provided of which Rs.1.00 lakhs material component and Rs.3000/- is wage component under convergence with MG NREGS
