A low cost silkworm rearing room constructed 63'x23' at COE Mulugu to provide additional income to the farmers to implement mulberry as intercrop in oil palm plantation. Review Meeting on Sericulture

Review Meeting on Sericulture has been held on 11-05-2022. The Director of Horticulture & Sericulture reviewed Sericulture activities with the staff of the Department of Silk Industry and stressed that silk industry should be taken up as an alternative crop to 7000 acres as Lucknow for the year 2022-23. Utilizing the Silk Comprehensive Central Silk Board Scheme-2 to utilize its subsidies for the development of farmers and entrepreneurs will greatly contribute to the prosperity of the silk industry farmer who provides more profit with less investment. During the months of Telangana, the climate was very favorable for the silk industry. In this spirit, the rest of the district farmers were asked to move towards the silk industry as an alternative crop.  |  Pics

The Director of the Department of Horticulture visited Shamshabad, Rangareddy District to the field of Shankar Lal Panwal’s Gary's Farm. Shri. Shankar Lal Panwal has been farming for almost 36 years. He has about 200 cows, he grown about 20 varieties of vegetables, 10 varieties of leafy vegetables and about 10 varieties of English exotic vegetables under hydroponics. Coriander Cultivation in Naskal Village of Parigi Mandal – Vikarabad

The Director of Horticulture & Sericulture visit to Naskal Village of Vikarabad District. An area of 360 acres is under Coriander cultivation in Vikarabad district and 150 acres in Naskal village of Pargi mandal. Naskal village has abundant ground water even during the summer season and the climate has lower temperatures during summer compared to other regions. Farmers get huge profits during this season as the Ramzan festival commences during this period and due to availability of plenty of ground water during summer. Cluster approach is being maintained by the farmers in cultivation of Coriander. Hence marketing is done directly from the farm gate of farmers. The Coriander farmers of Naskal have successfully reduced the input costs and secured best returns by capturing the highest rate in market consistently for the last few years.

State Level Awareness Programme on “Prospects and Potential for Cultivation of Seed Spices in Telangana State”

The Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and allied sectors has inaugurated the State Level Awareness Programme on “Prospects and Potential for Cultivation of Seed Spices in Telangana State.
Dr. Gopal Lal, Director and Dr. N.K. Meena and Dr. Shiv Lal, Senior Scientists from NRCSS, Ajmeer, Scientists from SKLTSHU and PJTSAU have taken part in the programme to create awareness and explained in detail on cultivation of Seed spices.
About 150 progressive farmers from Nirmal, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Sangareddy and Nalgonda which are potential districts for growing seed spices have participated in the programme.
