Government Garden Wings, Telangana

History and formation of the Department (Public Gardens):

The Public Garden was established in 54 acres of land in the year 1868 A.D. It was originally known as (Bagh-E-Am). Subsequently an Engineer of His Excellency of Nizam’s Government made improvements and completed it in 1872 under the supervision of Sir Wlikison, an Engineer. A zoo was added with many kinds of birds, forest and wild animals in the year 1872. The (Bagh-E-Am) was only the place where recreation for the public was available till the other gardens were developed by GHMC and HUDA. Due to the construction of various buildings the area of Public Garden has been reduced from 54 acres to 35 acres.
